Kaywanna Bore Water Board Chairman’s Annual Report

The scheme has continued to operate well over the past year. There has been no further correspondence regarding the Webb-Weller report and so the scheme remains a statutory body.

In May 2013, the board purchased a used Bobcat 232J 1.7 tonne mini-excavator. It has been increasingly difficult and expensive to hire these machines. Later in the year, a plant trailer was purchased to transport this machine.

Also in May 2013, nominations were called for members of the board. The existing board members were the only nominees and declared elected late in the year.

In August 2013 some special maintenance was done on the North Main to ‘Denver’ and ‘Venture Downs’. A 1" gate valve to DE1 and a 1.5" gate valve to DE2 were replaced. An air valve and a scour valve to VD2 were capped. This was done by Bevan English and me using my backhoe.

In October, John Thorn and I replaced distribution pump 1 and sent the old pump for repairs. Also in October, the float switch on the cooling tank was replaced by Jim McKinlay.

The main cabinet cooling fan was replaced in March 2014. The phone alarm system battery was replaced at the Kalala booster in April.

The board is currently considering the installation of a solar generator at the main bore.

Late in October, the board was saddened to hear that John Mulckey had passed away. John was a member of the board for many years and was generous with his time to assist with maintenance on the scheme. The board will miss John.

I extend my thanks to board members for the continued sound operations of the scheme.

Chairman
