Chairman's Annual Report

There was no special maintenance done in the winter of 2008. A combination of some wet periods and the fact that this work relies solely on volunteer organization were impediments.

There were some interruptions to the pumps due to algae blocking of the screen in the cooling tank from September until the tank was cleaned out in February.

There was another problem in April. Jim Spink replaced a voltage monitor which rectified this problem.

With the above exceptions, the scheme has operated quite well. More special maintenance is planned for this winter.

The Department has made some recommendations about the future of water boards in Queensland. It is possible that this board will be disbanded and the bore operations handed over to the Goondiwindi Regional Council in the future. If this scenario develops further, we will have discussions with the Council.

The financial position of this board remains very sound.

I extend my thanks to board members.

Geoff Woods
Chairman
